GreenForze - Sludge Management

Sludge Management

There are currently over 50,000 wastewater treatment works (WWTPs) operating in the European Union yielding a total of about 9 million tonnes of dry solids (ds) in. The amount of sludge will continue to increase as the Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive continues to be implemented The major outlets for sludge are agriculture and landfill, with only a relatively small amount being incinerated.

More countries ban the use on agriculture land
However, as more an more countries are banning the spread of sewage sludge on farm land the incineration route has become increasingly popular in recent years.

GreenForze's Sludge Management Concept
First of all we focus on minimizing cost and maximising revenues:

A. Efficient mechanical dewatering (40-50% ds)
B. Energyeffcient thermal drying using waste heat from power production
C. Gasification/power production instead of biogas production
D. Phophate recovery and fertiliser production.
